sha·man
(shä'mən, shā'-)
n. A member of certain tribal societies who acts as a medium
between the visible world and an invisible spirit world and who practices magic
or sorcery for purposes of healing, divination, and control over natural
events.
Especially among certain tribal peoples) a person who acts as intermediary
between the natural and supernatural worlds, using magic to cure illness,
foretell the future, control spiritual forces, etc. (For more complete, see What Is A Modern Shaman?)
Note: Shamanism is not a religion as such. I am a Christian Shaman with eclectic tendencies. That is, I was baptized in the Church of England, and adhere to Christian principles, but I am not averse to borrowing from any and every other belief system if it helps heal. From Native American Medicine to Scientology, there are some very effective techniques we can borrow without accepting their systems lock, stock and barrel, (or hook, line and sinker if you prefer it). After all, they did not invent this stuff; God did. They borrowed it from the Great Spirit. Simply, the Greek Eclectics had a good idea. If it works use it no matter what the source. (From E-Workshop)
I
was born in England just before the end of World War 2. I don’t know my exact time of birth because
it was double daylight savings time and the doctors just estimated the time
anyway. Bombs were still falling I think. So, even if astrology is valid, I
still cannot ever get my chart done.
Which is good, because I have come to rely on something much Higher.
My
mother was English and my father was an American soldier. I was baptized in the
Church of England, my British side uncle being a minister. I came to the USA
when I was a few months old on the Queen Mary and settled in Pasadena,
California.
So
far, so good. However, I did not have a
completely normal childhood. My US side
uncle had begun a program for foreign students with Cal Tech and from the time
I was a small grasshopper, I was around a lot of very bright young science
students from all over the world. They
were very kind to me and indulged the burgeoning curiosity of a four-year-old. Did
I mention I was somewhat irritatingly precocious? Thus, began my
interest in science.
I
was to go to private Christian school for the first years, where I learned
phonetics and other good study habits which, thank God, got me through the
boredom and travail of public school later on.
I may have inadvertently learned some moral lessons as well. I learned more in my first three years of
school than in all the rest, at least academically!
I began my interest and
training in the mystic side of things somewhere around my junior year in High
school. I surfed, living near Hermosa
Beach, and played like other guys, but I always read avidly in the field of psi
phenomena. This led me to a study of
Eastern religions, yoga, and martial arts. Actually my first contact with the
idea of anything like meditation came when I began training in the Japanese
arts of Kenpo Karate and Aikido. I was
also introduced to the concept of Buddhism and meditation to make the mind
peaceful. I also read “Autobiography of
a Yogi” and “Wisdom of the Overself” and was hooked.
My life after school would
take several books. I don’t want to bore you. Suffice it to say, I have done
and seen much. I was in the music business and had several rock bands and even
a minor hit under another name. I have
worked as a salesman and marketer for very big and small corporations and also
had my own businesses. I have been
married twice and have no children. I am pretty normal in most ways. I have the
scars from the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, just like everyone
else.
I began meditating and
tying to follow the mystic even before the Beatles popularized yoga in the
US. I was a vegetarian when it was damn
near impossible to find a vegetarian meal in any restaurant. There were no
Whole Foods, Wild Oats or Trader Joes in those days. I was a pioneer and took the proverbial arrows to the chest to
prove it. And, along the way, I was
also picking up a vast amount of information on alternative health and medicine
which I have used to keep myself young and healthy and to help others when
“given the chance”. (This means
essentially, that many people fight for their limitations. A person has to want to get well. Sometimes, even though they do not know it,
they have a death wish, or they want to be ill to get attention and love, etc.)
Okay, so what is my
motivation to be a Shaman and try to help people get well and stay well? Why do old men plant trees? They will never sit in the shade or enjoy
the taste of the fruit. And yet they do. And so, I find that I want to share and
impart some of the secrets I have learned from my many Gurus and experiences
and studies. I know many Healers in all
disciplines and I believe I can help. I
can plant some trees and enjoy the fact that someone somewhere will benefit by
the shade and the fruit thereof.
How am I qualified? I am a Shaman. This has a very special
meaning in that it transcends what most people think of when you say the word
“healer”. I want it to be “outside the
box” so to speak, so you will get the idea that it is very different. For one
thing, a true Shaman knows he does no healing. It is the Great Spirit in the
form of Nature and her Laws that when properly channeled, create the conditions
that lead to recovery and vital health.
Only some allopathic doctors think they can actually “heal” anyone. The ones who are honest know that they can
only assist Nature, the One who really heals.
I
have studied with some of the greatest healers of our time. From the physics and chemistry of how it
works on the material plane, to the multi dimensional vibratory causation that
emits from the very Spirit within all beings, there is a continuum. Like a rainbow, like the octaves on a piano,
the harmonies and the sacred geometries can be harnessed in many forms to bring
a cure. We, as Shamans, believe this is
our spiritual right and obligation and so cannot be legislated against by
vested interests. We are guaranteed the certain inalienable freedoms under the
Constitution of the US and one of these is the pursuit of happiness and
religious freedom. A pre-requisite of
happiness is Health and well being.
Also, Religious freedom transcends any human limitations that are placed
on the abilities of individuals to heal themselves or others. The laws that limit the free practice of
spiritual healing in this country are illegal, immoral and reprehensible. However, as an offering to Caesar, as the
Great Spirit of Jesus said, “render unto Caesar that which is Ceasar’s” but no
more! In other words, pay the taxes if
you must, but never let Ceasar replace the Almighty Creator in your Heart! (Oh,
and the Golden Calf can take many forms especially in this society!)
So,
you can see that I am not that fond of the system as it stands. I love the Constitution and the Bill of
Rights, and I wish that the government would actually apply them sometime! I have seen too many effective cures for
killer diseases suppressed and stepped on by our wonderful government and big
business. This is a matter of fact, and
in the Reference section of my Detox Course, I offer many sources of facts you
can check to see that this is true and not just another conspiracy theory. Yet, all medicine has something to
offer. As a modern Shaman I revere and
value the best in modern medicine and believe it can be used synergistically
with other more unconventional methods to effect almost miraculous recoveries
in most cases. The doctors are not the enemy.
The system has become corrupt and the pattern of corruption is becoming
a template through which all things must pass in order to become available to
the people. This must change or we will
perish as a people as many have done before by flouting the Laws of the real
government of the Creator.
How
do you become a Shaman? You accept the
responsibility of helping others through the healing profession, that is
all. If I am a good one, and I think I
am, then you can call me whatever you like, e.g. medicine man, witchdoctor,
kahuna, voodoo priest, or just plain helper, friend in need, good Samaritan,
etc. Just don‘t call me doctor!
I
have friends that are very good healers, some Shamans, that do what I cannot.
Maybe they can help if I cannot.
I
use technology as a condenser or magnifier of spirit energies. Psychotronic devices have been shown to
work. The Russians were even doing some rather scary experiments where they
stored up the psychic energy of many psychics and were going to use it to
disrupt events or large groups of people.
I believe that our thoughts become our reality---eventually. So, if you
need some strange tech to help, so be it. Whatever works. Unfortunately, the faith of the average
person is so weak these days, that many things just do not work anymore, like
crystals, at least not as much as may be needed. When I use tech to “enable” a healing, it works whether you have
faith or not. It is self-sufficient. It helps if you have faith, but it is not
necessary. Faith is what brought you to me, so that is enough to begin with. If
you found me, then your karma is such that a healing is possible. You have learned the lesson of this illness,
or are willing to learn, and therefore you have contacted me. I am then just a
vehicle for your Higher Self to manifest a healing. Do you see? It is your own conviction and faith that
draws a healing.
And,
be advised, it is much more than the placebo effect. That can only account for thirty per cent at best. I have seen 100 per cent results. We are dealing here with the Laws of Nature
and when they are obeyed, man can achieve anything.
I
am available to consult with you about your health problems and offer my
suggestions with the proviso that you understand I am not doctor and cannot
diagnose (although, I suppose you could say I am a witch doctor). Diagnosis is best left to the professionals
who have all those wondrous high tech devices for just such things. Neither can I prescribe in the conventional
sense of the word, that is I cannot indicate that a specific herb or type of
treatment will “cure” your condition.
This is against the law in most states of the Union USA. I can assist you in certain ways, but you
must understand, that only within certain state sanctioned guidelines, can I
practice the shaman religion and tradition, i.e. we have to be careful.
What
I can do is, offer information regarding Shamanic remedies in similar
situations, from a historical point of view, with the understanding that it is
to allow your own Inner Doctor to heal you.
If I cannot help, I will say so. I will tell you exactly how much I
think I can help. When and if I offer
any remedial suggestions, they must be considered to fall under the auspice of
the Great Spirit and Its Guidance. I am only a channel for this, and merely a
reflection of the Wisdom of your Higher Self.
If you can understand this, then I can help you.
Ever Upward,
Shaman Jim (Little Big Star)
